The Property
This 2,257 square foot, three-story building dates back to 1920 and is located on the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville, one of the longest pedestrian malls in the U.S. In 2015, we began renovations to convert the top two floors into a four-room boutique hotel. The first floor commercial space is currently occupied by a popular retro-themed comic book store.
The Townsman is unlike your typical hotel. That’s why we call it the unhotel. Poised just above Charlottesville’s bustling Downtown Mall with no staff and no front desk, it feels like a well-kept secret right in the center of all the action. Explore great restaurants, local stores, enchanting nightlife and historic sites, all right below your feet.
